Background: Paul Curtis' grandfather started Heckmann Building Products in Chicago in 1923. The company is celebrating its 100-year anniversary this year. Paul worked part-time at Heckmann's through high school and college doing everything from manufacturing parts on the machines to packing boxes in shipping, doing office work, and making deliveries in the Chicago area. After college, he worked for a few years in a non-construction-related field. Paul started with Heckmann full time in 1979. He took over the company in the mid-1980s as President. The company was sold at the end of 2016 and he has concentrated on product development and architectural education.
